Soil Sunrise Dried Mealworms; Carnivorous Plant Food Protein Supplement
PLEASE READ THE TIPS BEFORE FEEDING THE WORMS TO YOUR PLANTS.
Carnivorous plants use insects to supplement their diet because all the nutrients they need are not found in the soil. If your carnivorous plant is indoors . it is not always easy to ensure live insects indoors. Dried mealworms are a perfect . no mess alternative for feeding your carnivorous plants. Please refer to the instructions below to properly feed your plant. NOTE: These mealworms can also be fed to pet hedgehogs . birds . fish . squirrels . mice . snakes . chickens . and some reptiles. Please research your pets' dietary requirements before offering new foods.
Tips: Freeze-dried mealworms make feeding your plants much easier. You may find that feeding a Venus flytrap a dead mealworm is difficult. The following are some tips from the pros on how to do this correctly:
Rehydrate freeze-dried mealworms with a drop or two of water
A mealworm 1/3 the size of the trap is all that is needed. (If the worm is too large . the trap will die)
After placing the mealworm gently in the trap . use tongs or a skewer to gently stimulate the hairs inside.
Make sure that the trap can close and seal completely
You can use your fingers to help seal the trap [very gently] after it is closed. If it does not seal . it will open again after 24 hours without having digested the worm.
One feeding per week is often enough to keep your Venus flytrap healthy.
If you have a larger plant . such as a pitcher plant . you may need to feed more often.
